First Lady Touts Obama's Work On Women's Issues in Iowa
First lady Michelle Obama touted the Obama administration’s work on women’s issues to an enthusiastic Iowa City crowd Monday, The Des Moines Register reported Oct. 30. “When it comes to standing up for our rights and opportunities, you know that Barack will always have your back. Always,” she told the crowd. “ ... I saw how devoted he was to his own family — especially the women in his life.”
Hours before she spoke in Iowa City, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds held a news conference in Coralville for the Romney campaign, saying the Obama-era economy has been bad for women.
“The first thing we need to do is make sure we have jobs and make an economy here where women can get jobs. ... Mitt Romney knows the free enterprise system has lifted more people out of poverty than any government program ever could,” Reynolds said.
